Ang, you remembered? For picture 1, it is better to show the other eye, otherwise it is perceived that there is only one eye human. I think that it is time for me to invit distinguish speaker on portraiture to give a talk.

Actually most of my takes are 'in'. Just a few shots I try different angles for a different mood. Here're somemore Anyway, I'm still trying to find out which type of photography other than landscape suits me. Actually it's quite interesting to do portrait.

The 3rd one is quite nice, but the face seems to be a bit too 'soft'. Could it be slightly out of focus? The 4th one I would prefer if you include more of her arm/elbow.

Your wish is my command. Try not to crop the head off .. Think if you expand to the right and crop more to the left and top .. leaving the model in a more or less rule of third might be more interesting Just my 2 cents

Thanks for sharing allblue.
Cecil / USM / ang - can I ask - why should the nose be on the right side?
Is it their right or mine when taking the shot?
Thanks - as you can see from all of my shots I do the straight on - a bad habit I must correct!

What Ang means is that you chose which side of the face you wish to shoot (ie. what you think is the nicer side, better profile) and of course that side would be visible, but general guidelines as my guru who taught on portraiture said that the nose should protrude out of the other side of the face just like its a no-no to cut off the chin but the top can, just general guidelines like the rules of thirds and of course can be broken, but, I always state you gotta know the rule first before breaking them.

sorry miss out the "not" here 'the nose should "not" protrude out of the other side of the face' Pic 1 would be better (if you wish to take a full side profile) to have a very close up view of the profile of the face and only the face from the top of the head to just below the chin. pic 2 is what we discuss, her right profile and nose inside the left profile and the whole face can be seen, don't yu think it would look odd if all the profile fo her face can be seen except for the nose poking out of the profile? Yeah you'll need to attend some portraiture training if you wish to take proper portraits

Lighting very flat.Poses not nice. Thanks for the comment. It was a cloudy day with low lighting during that time and still it's my 1st shoot.
