Bro, you are definitely quite daring to shoot an important event without flash. Luckily, the couple is your friends. Technically speaking, not unless you are using fast lens, like f2.8 or below, using flash is practically a MUST for event in a indoor environment. I not refering to the built-in flash. It can't do much. You need an external flash unit. Actually, a 580EX is a preferred. I will tell you why when we meet up. I do understand that you have budget constraint, but don't worry, save it up and get it by year end. Did you notice that almost all the indoor photos have shadows? This is not so nice for portraits. And also, some of the photos are backlit, so the use of a flash is necessary. Nevetheless, it is a good piece of work. yoh USM bro, i did thought of saving up for 580EX, but i just worry it would be under-used...then is like wasted....hehe

Ya,may be u always see other people photo shoot without flash(natural light),is really nice and natural... right... but are u encounter that photo always let the background over-expose? ya.if for me,if without flash,i will measure the dark area as to get the exposure..ha ha.so,the picture sure will get HIGH KEY style... once u never use flash: 1.u need use low speed n f stop,so picture easy get blur n out of focus. 2.a potrait shoot, people will very mind the eyes,so if the eyes cover by shadow?? 3.flash can let u get correct w.balance inside indoor have alot of different temperature lighting.. actually a lot nice photo also have shoot with flash, just they skill very pro,so look like so naturel.. next time try shoot with "S" mode and "ON" the flash(-2),see what u can get.. i also want to try...ha ha.. if what i saying,ur feel wrong.please dont shoot me..
