the orchid is very nicely captured. DOF for the mantis is not enough. Get the eye sharp, most important rule in macros of insects.
Shoot more and soon you will be the master. considered very very very good for 1st attempt.

DOF for the insect not enough.. my 2 cents... but Deswitch is right very good for the first try.. you should have seen my...hahaha By the way which what your setup for taking these shots Cheers

yup.... the orchid shots defintely is nice....
all your first time shots are much better than my first time....hehe

BTW.. what u mean DOF not enuff.. shud I use a smaller apperture then? Yup you have to use smaller aperture... f/11 to f/22.. this way you can more of the subject's detail
