Erm... sorry USM... I've got a 75 - 300 mm USM III lens. Does not have "L". Sorry is there a difference?? Cheers I see. I see. I got a shock when you said that there is a non-L 300mm prime. Technically speaking, there are lot of differences comparing the EF 300mm f4L IS USM vs the EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM. Forget about their differences in terms of : EF 300mm f4L IS | EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM | - Using Ring USM | - Micro USM | - Image Stabilizer | - Nil | - Constant Aperture | - Nil | - Internal Focusing | - Nil | - 2 UD elements | - Nil |
The main differences are in terms of color, contrast and sharpness of the 2 lenses. Since you mentioned about 300mm, let look at their MTF charts respectively. EF 300mm f4L IS | EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM | | |
Based on the MTF charts, isn't that obvious?

hm.. L is for "Luxury". Most of the Canon L lens series are white in color, and with a red stripe around the end of the lens.
These Lens use special optical technologies such as Ultra-low Dispersion UD glass, Super Low Dispersion glass, Fluorite elements etc...
With all that advantages it can produce excellent photo images!

Bro, you are partially correct. Equipment is just equipment, it is the man behind the camera that produces excellent images.

details look great but the noise levels dont. Pardon me, but shouldnt the noise be non-existent?considering that the moon reflects enough light to give you a good exposure
