I have a chance to try out the new EOS 400D. On the first glance, it looked very similar to the EOS 350D, its predecessor. The 2.5" LCD catched my attention. It displayed many useful information. The buttons on the back of the body is also quite easy to use. I am particularly interested in the noise level control especially at ISO 800 and 1600. Therefore, I have taken some shots to see the noise tolerance level. All photos taken using the kit lens - 18-55mm. 1/100, f4.5 ISO 8001/400, f3.5 ISO 16001/80, f8 ISO 1600My test is not a conclusive answer. It is just a normal testing. At ISO 800, the noise control is pretty well. On the other hand, the result produced by the kit lens was impressive. While at ISO 1600, the noise is pretty obvious but still acceptable to me.

400D and 30D are of different class. The 30D has better built, bigger in size, more buffer, more expensive, etc. But the picture quality is about the same.

Thanks Canew,
So... what should I be considering if i am choosing between the 400D or the 30D... What questions should I ask myself to know which model to choose.
Thanks for the advice in advance.
Cheers

How often will you be using the camera? How serious are you into photography? Do you have a lot of cash? The camera is just the beginning... the lenses are the killer...
30D has a bigger view finder so you can see better. If you shoot for long hours your eye will feel the strain using 400D.
