Hey USM,
THanks for this insight... read through a few ranges that I'm using.
Just have another query... apologise if it sound dumb.
Q: I have a Canon 75 to 300 mm lens and I was reading that classified a guy was selling the 70 to 200 mm lens. My question is... how come my lens looks like a normal lens whereas the 70 to 200 looks like a more powerful, sports photographer's lens?
Q: Is the 70 to 200mm lens more powerful??
The outlook doesn't matter to me... just curious about the size and if there is a "power" difference.
Cheers

The outlook doesn't matter to me... just curious about the size and if there is a "power" difference. Cheers Technically speaking, there are lot of differences comparing the EF 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM vs the EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM. Forget about their differences in terms of : EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM | EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM | - Using Ring USM | - Micro USM | - Image Stabilizer | - Nil | - Constant Aperture | - Nil | - Internal Focusing | - Nil | - 4 UD elements | - Nil |
The main differences are in terms of color, contrast and sharpness of the 2 lenses. Looking at the 200mm and 300mm range of each lens MTF chart respectively, isn' that obvious? EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS | EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM | | |

Hi USM regarding the lens code...... 1. what is II / III usm means? II and III are just the version differentiation, mark III is the latest.2. what is L lens for? "L" stands for "Luxury". Why is that so? The reasons are : i) These lenses are made of AL or UD or S-UD or Fluorite or combination of a 2 types of elements.
ii) The image quality of L lenses is generally as good as it gets. Contrast, sharpness, color, bokeh, flare, CA are excellent.
iii) Focus faster
iv) Ring USM
v) Internal Focusing
Hence, most L lenses are quite costly.3. addressing on the previous post from me. - y is the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM worth buying? jus unsure why this is so cheap. Canon or Cathay Photo is clearing stocks, not because of quality issue but rather on commercial reasons. The lens has been around since the EOS 3 days, roughly 6-7 years old. Given the fact most APS/APH users will not favor this lens due its limitation at the 28mm wide. (28 x 1.6 = 44.8 or 28 x 1.3 = 36.4). This lens is very good if you are using film camera or FF DSLR. Incidentally, this lens was launched together with EOS 3 back in 1998.so sorry for posting so many Qns. thanks a million for your time.

woww ok ok thanks a million... so i presume that 28-135 lens isnt such a good buy afterall..... ;D hmmm....seems that 17 - 40 is the most ' effective ' walkabout lens.... Hello Ang79 I own a canon 28-135 lens, still happy with it. If you getting it remember do some test shot, cause this lens is well known for "zoom creep". One thing I dislike about my 28-135mm is when it fully extent, the front part of the lens is abit shaky.... 28-135 lens to me is not ' effective ' walkabout lens. Effective walkabout lens is having a library of lens Which I can choose from monday to sunday!! (dun you agree) kekeke Hm.. I have a question for you guys. Have your girlfriend or wife ask you before, I am more important or your lens is more important... or what you love?? me or your lens. heeheehee.. ;D ;D ;D
