LL9 Note to self - stop getting in so close to the subject (it makes the edges of the face go soft). I made this mistake on my last photo tour - when will I learn! Still I love the sense of cheeky happiness on her face - it was a good capture as she was playing peek-a-boo with me!

LL10 This piccie was caught in a stolen moment - yet it seems to catch every one's eye. I've been honoured with four flickr awards ~ see my home page to view other people's comments.

Yes, this is a very good picture, your attention is drawn to the little girl and wondering what she's looking at. Ice cream? the look of hope? great separation of subject and background, good balance, good sepia tone. Left cheek a bit overexpose.

Hi Mandy, nice use of the sepia tone. However, I find that the lefthand roof of the far away house somehow spoil the photo because it is overexposed. In fact, that overexposed roof caught my attention first before the little girl. Our eyes will normally caught those areas with very contrasty effect.

Thanks Cecil and USM - your feed back is fantastic - now I know what I need to do to improve on the piccie.
I didn't realise the cheek was over exposed, but seem to remember trying to do some thing about the roof and then getting exsperated with my lack of skill!
Keep the comments coming every one!

Love this shot! Very dynamic, can see the glee on her face, she lights up the pic. Cool angle as well! LL9 Note to self - stop getting in so close to the subject (it makes the edges of the face go soft). I made this mistake on my last photo tour - when will I learn! LL8 Hi Mandy, you definitely have a lot of photos. ;D Anyway, allow me to comment on this one first. Do you realise that the head or face of this little girl is slightly distorted? Are you very close to her? Are you using a wide angle lens to shoot her?

Oh dear - I hadn't even realised - I can see it now you have pointed it out!
If I remember rightly I snapped the shot as she was climbing on the platform next to me - it must be that I am too close!
Thanks for taking the time to post C&C - it is a great way for me to learn.

LL 11 LL12 You are welcome Mandy. Let move on to these 2 shots. Nice use of B & W tone and expression. One of the rules of taking portraiture is not to cut off the jaw. You can cut off the forehead but not the jaw. Secondly, if possible, wipe off those "water juices" below their noses. That way it will make them a nicer portrait.

Thanks for the tip - I reckon I've made the 'jaw' mistake on other photos too - it will be some thing to remember for the future.
